Starlink Site Office Internet for Miller Knight at Arborfield Green, Reading
Miller Knight is a Nottinghamshire-based, multi-discipline contractor delivering regeneration, refurbishment, facilities management and national remedial fire protection services. Flexible WiFi connected its site offices at Cook Way, Arborfield Green in Reading.
The Challenge
Miller Knight needed business-grade internet at a new site office in Arborfield Green, Reading, and it needed it urgently. The project team was working from two site cabins with no fixed-line connection. The solution also had to suit the realities of a construction programme: a short initial term, the ability to move the equipment if the site office relocated, and a separate network for contractors that kept them away from company devices.
Our Solution
We were introduced by Miller Knight's IT partner, who knew our Starlink work for another of their clients. We quoted a complete site package: a Starlink Business service with 500GB of priority data, a managed Fortinet FortiGate 30G firewall and Fortinet wireless access points covering both site cabins. Two networks were configured, Miller Knight Staff and Miller Knight Contractor, with the firewall ready to prioritise construction applications such as Procore. Removal and relocation of the equipment during the term is included, and the whole network is covered by our 24/7/365 proactive monitoring and technical support for on-site staff.
The Result
The order form was signed on a Monday and the site WiFi was configured and live on the Wednesday, two days later. Both cabins are covered, staff and contractors are on separate secure networks, and the site team has a single support number for anything connectivity related. The service runs on a six-month initial term with quarterly invoicing in advance, so it fits the length of the programme instead of tying the project to a multi-year broadband contract.
