Construction Site Internet for Beechcroft Developments' Retirement Community Builds
Beechcroft Developments has been building luxury retirement communities since 1984, with developments across Oxfordshire, Berkshire, Hampshire, Surrey, Buckinghamshire, Kent and Hertfordshire. Flexible WiFi provides site office internet and WiFi to its construction sites under a single master services agreement.
The Challenge
Beechcroft's construction sites are typically small: one site cabin, a meeting room and up to ten people online at any one time. Each site runs for anywhere between ten months and three years. The buying team needed temporary internet that could be installed quickly, moved or removed when a build finished, and invoiced quarterly by purchase order rather than direct debit. Fixed broadband to a site cabin is rarely an option, and mobile data from site managers' phones was not a workable long-term answer for uploading drawings, snagging lists and site paperwork.
Our Solution
We agreed a master services agreement covering every Beechcroft site, then proved the setup with a proof-of-concept install at Abbey Mill Place in Bishop's Waltham, Hampshire. Each site gets a Starlink satellite connection, a managed FortiGate 30G firewall and two Fortinet Wi-Fi 6 access points, one in the site office and one in the meeting room, for coverage and resilience. The dish is mounted on the cabin roof and the install takes one to two hours without disrupting site works. Every site has the same two networks: Beechcroft Staff, which is prioritised, and a separate Beechcroft Guest network for subcontractors and visitors. Staff can move between sites without reconnecting. The whole estate is monitored 24/7/365 from our Coventry support team.
The Result
After the proof of concept went live in April 2026, Beechcroft rolled the service out to Juniper Gardens in Chinnor, Oxfordshire and Fonthill Gardens in Reigate, Surrey, both live within weeks. When Reigate reached final completion in August 2026, Beechcroft gave notice, the service was ceased with immediate effect and collection of the equipment was arranged with the site team, with no long contract to run down. In September 2026 the next site at Wilton Park, Beaconsfield went from request to live WiFi within a week. The same identical network now follows Beechcroft from site to site, with new builds planned in Hartley Wintney and beyond.

Beechcroft Developments: frequently asked questions
How do you get internet to a construction site with no phone line?
For most sites we install a Starlink satellite dish on the site cabin roof, connected to a managed FortiGate firewall and WiFi access points. It needs no phone line or groundworks, and at Beechcroft's sites it is installed in one to two hours.
How quickly can construction site internet be installed?
Lead times can be as short as next day. Beechcroft's Wilton Park site in Beaconsfield went from request to live WiFi within a week, including hardware, configuration and install.
What happens to the site internet when a build is finished?
The service is flexible. When Beechcroft's Reigate development reached final completion, the service was ceased and the equipment collected from site. The kit can also be relocated to the next development.
Can subcontractors use the site WiFi without accessing company systems?
Yes. Every Beechcroft site has a prioritised staff network and a completely separate guest network for subcontractors and visitors, both secured by the managed FortiGate firewall.
Is Starlink reliable enough for a site office?
Starlink gives site teams fast, low-latency internet regardless of location. We monitor every connection 24/7 and handle issues such as public IP changes remotely, so site managers do not need to.
