Bar WiFi Inside Coventry's Historic Christchurch Spire for Dhillon's Spire Bar
Dhillon's Spire Bar is a cosy cocktail and craft beer bar inside the historic Christchurch Spire on New Union Street, one of Coventry's famous three spires. Run by Dhillon's Brewery, it serves street food from sister venue the Sky Blue Tavern and hosts bottomless brunches and events.
The Challenge
Putting a modern bar inside a centuries-old spire creates a network challenge you do not get in a new-build venue. The space is compact and characterful, and any work has to respect the building. The bar still needs everything a busy city-centre venue needs: reliable card payments, table bookings and a guest WiFi that works during bottomless brunch. As one of six Dhillon's venues moving to Flexible WiFi, it also had to run on the same standard, centrally managed platform as the rest of the group.
Our Solution
We designed a compact managed WiFi service for the Spire Bar that uses the venue's existing internet connection and cabling wherever possible, to avoid unnecessary work on a historic building. A managed firewall keeps guest WiFi separate from the bar's own systems, with coverage planned for the drinking and dining areas. Guest WiFi uses the group's branded portal and syncs with Fresh CRM, so Spire Bar guests are captured for brunch and event promotions alongside the other Dhillon's venues. The Spire Bar is covered by the group's multi-site agreement, with a service sized for a smaller venue.
The Result
The Spire Bar now has managed WiFi and secure payments inside one of Coventry's most recognisable landmarks, monitored and supported 24/7/365 alongside the rest of the Dhillon's estate. Guests connect through the same branded experience they get at Elle's and The Almanack, and the group's marketing team sees Spire Bar guest sign-ups in the same CRM as every other venue.
