The Jointworks
The Jointworks is a premium flexible workspace in the heart of Birmingham city centre on Frederick Street. The space caters to creative professionals, growing businesses, and entrepreneurs who need more than just a desk - they need an inspiring environment with rock-solid infrastructure to support serious work.
The Challenge
City centre workspaces face high expectations from professional tenants who rely on connectivity for their livelihoods. The Jointworks needed infrastructure that could guarantee uptime, not just promise it. A single internet outage could mean missed client calls, failed video conferences, and lost business for tenants. They also needed enterprise-grade security to protect tenant data, and the flexibility to support varying bandwidth demands from different businesses without any tenant impacting another.
Our Solution
We implemented a fully managed workspace solution built on Fortinet infrastructure throughout - firewall, switches, and access points all from the same vendor for seamless integration and simplified management. A 1Gbit/s dedicated leased line provides the primary connectivity, with automatic failover to a 5G backup connection ensuring the workspace stays online even if the fibre is cut. Each tenant operates on their own secure VLAN, and the FlexZone management platform enables self-service WiFi access for members.
The Result
The Jointworks can now genuinely promise their tenants that connectivity won't let them down. The dual-path internet design means that even during street works or fibre faults, the workspace stays online - tenants don't even notice the failover. The all-Fortinet infrastructure provides consistent performance and enterprise-grade security that professional tenants expect. Birmingham's creative community has a workspace they can rely on, backed by infrastructure that matches their ambitions.
